Chaya Pasupu (Turmeric Powder)

Pasupu goes into almost every pot in an Andhra kitchen. This one is ground from dried turmeric fingers, giving a strong, even yellow and the earthy smell of fresh-ground turmeric.

Used in daily cooking, in pickle masala and in the traditional ways turmeric is kept in South Indian homes.
